(History)

The Veritatis Splendor Project, under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Hsinchu, Taiwan, was approved for establishment in 2023 by Bishop John Baptist Lee and is operated by the Institute Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara (SSVM). Its mission is to foster faith formation among the laity and families.

Through both online and in-person programs, the Project endeavors to reach Chinese-speaking individuals across the globe, proclaiming the Gospel message not only to Christians, but also to those who have yet to encounter the message of salvation—thus serving as an instrument of ad gentes evangelization.

(Our Mission)

The mission of the Veritatis Splendor Project is to promote a profound and integrated understanding of the human person, marriage, and the family, in fidelity to the Catholic tradition. This is accomplished through a multidisciplinary educational approach grounded in theology and philosophy and illuminated by the theological and philosophical legacy of Saint John Paul II—particularly his vision of man and woman as embodied, sexually differentiated persons in a communion of love, created in the image of God, with a given nature and called to a pecific vocation.

Anchored in the Magisterium of the Church, the Project seeks to critically engage with contemporary issues related to human nature, marriage, the family, biotechnology, and ethics, especially in light of modern Western assumptions concerning the human person. These issues are addressed with the aim of deepening the understanding of the dignity of human life and the transcendent meaning of truth, beauty, and goodness.
By fostering the unity of intellectual formation and pastoral practice, the Project contributes to the Church’s mission of the “new evangelization” within a post-Christian cultural context, working toward the establishment of a “culture of life” throughout Asia.
